Garter Flashes
Our Garter Flashes are composed of Wool Braid and hang below the cuff of your kilt hose (socks). These can be fashioned in a tartan to match your kilt or in a solid complementing colour. They are attached to elastic, allowing for a simple closing with a hook and clasp concealed by the cuff of your kilt hose. Our flashes have two double ribbons (flashes) per garter.
Highland Dress Accessories
Our kilt accessories add that finishing touch to your highland outfit. Whether your occasion is formal or informal, our accessories are an essential part of your kilt outfit.
Sporran
Style Tip 1 | Match the metalwork finish on your sporran to other metal work you are wearing
2 | Centre your sporran just below, but not touching, your waistcoat
3 | Sit the chain straps on top of the belt loops to stop them slipping
A Sporran has the same function as pockets on a traditional pocketless kilt traditional Scottish Sporrans. Our Sporrans are great for daytime events or formal occasions and made from the finest leathers and furs.
Day Sporran - Great for daytime events
Made exclusively from leather and will have minimal adornment. The details on a day sporran are usually quite subtle, but often feature an embossed design on the front and tassels.
Semi-Dress Sporran - Great for events that run from the afternoon into the evening
Likewise, the front of semi-dress sporran is covered in short hair hide or tweed. They have more decorative elements and frequently have metal embellishments and embossed patterns.
Dress Sporran - Great choice for weddings and other formal occasions
Dress sporrans and their distinct characteristic of a metal cantle makes it eye-catching, alongside intricate designs on the cantle and feature fur tassels.
Footwear
The Ghillie Brogue
Style Tip 1 | Twist the laces five or six times and wrap behind the leg.
Form a little tie, then bring back to the front.
At the back of your leg, tie them like a regular shoelace.
2 | Ensure the laces sit below your calf muscle so they don't slip down.
The Ghillie Brogue is an essential component of traditional highland dress. Primarily worn for social occasions, these brogues have long laces with tassels to tie around your lower leg. Without a tongue, these brogues show off your kilt hose.
Day Brogue Shoes and Brogue Boots
Pair your brogues with your traditional highland wear outfit and also with casual clothes afterwards! They are a great modern option for both formal and casual events.
Most importantly, you are able to personalise areas of your highland dress outfit to complement both you and the event you're going. Have fun while putting your outfit together and tag us with any Lochcarron of Scotland products you choose to wear!
