What are the white threads running through the pleating on my kilt?

Your kilt will be delivered with what is called “basting threads”. The basting threads are rows of large white basting stitches. The purpose of basting threads is to hold the pleating together. Your kilt is pressed twice before being shipped out to you. These stitches ensure the pleating on your kilt are clean and crisp when received. You can remove these by carefully cutting the white thread and gently pulling them out of the pleating before wearing your kilt.
